Jacksonville, Alabama (WLJS) --- Bow tie making. That is the hobby of one Jacksonville minister who has decided to take his free time during the holidays and build a business --- a business of bow ties.

24-year-old Randall Nunn, sole proprietor of R.N. Collections, has taken his love for making the neckties and allowed it to "bless him financially."

"I originally did it to save money for myself because I was buying them from other people," said Nunn. "I got to the point where I was not able to buy them for myself. I started making them for myself and then people started seeing them and liking them and asking me to make them some."

Nunn, however, who was ordained as a minister in 2006 and graduated from JSU with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in April, does not just have a generic brand of bow ties. Many of his selections come in multiple colors, sports team logos, animal prints and even cartoon characters.

"I like different things," he said. "I actually went to Walmart and Hobby Lobby and saw the different fabrics. I wanted to have different fabrics because everybody is different in taste. The cartoon or fictional characters is [somewhat] for the kids."

Nunn said out of all his bow ties, which takes about 15 or 20 minutes to make, his paisley designs are the most popular. Paisley is a design of colorful, detailed, usually curving figures. Nunn says he's not sure why that particular design is so popular.

"You know I have yet to find that out. I’m not sure. They look more formal. I guess that’s why."

Nunn says a large percentage of his clients are from churches and choirs.

"I have sold some of them at church before and [other] church functions and stuff like that. A lot of my customers are from choirs and praise teams."

When asked on how big he wants his bow tie selling business to become, he says he is leaving it in the hands of God.

"I never planned for it the way it went. I planned to do it for myself. I believe what is happening, its helping me financially. My intention is not for this big, booming business, unless that is what the Lord has me to do."
